Constantine the Great and Christanity
Constantine's Dream -or- The Shield of Christ
History informs us that during the Roman Civil War, the Roman Emperor Constantine the Great had a dream before going into battle. The dream was reported by a number of observers who have provided slightly differing accounts. The dream prophesized that if Constantine's soldiers shields were marked with Christian symbols, that his army would be triumphant. Constantine did indeed celebrate a military victory. Based on his dreams and visions, Constantine would convert the Roman Empire to Christianity, marking the official beginning of Christendom in Europe and the Middle East (Byzantine Empire).
